How to Find More Time in the Day- Become a Morning Person in Five Easy Steps

shutterstock_683927068

If you are like us, you are always wondering where all the time went in the day. We are all busy professionals with busy family and social lives. So how can we find more time in the day? First place to look- at our mornings! If you’d like to become more of a morning person, there are some simple steps to make the transition smoother. By building healthy rituals and changing your habits slightly, you’ll experience greater ease upon waking and starting your day. You’ll find you’ll have more energy to get things done and feel less rushed to get out the door.

shutterstock_677014174

Bonus tip: Remember to always kick-start your metabolism within 30 minutes of waking, in order to boost your daily calorie burn by up to 20%. Make sure your breakfast is rich in a high variety of plant-based proteins for optimal burn and optimal results. Here is how to become a morning person in five easy steps:

Plan for your day the night before. Lay out your clothes, prepare your lunch, and create a list of things you must do to remain productive. By doing these three things, your day will be off to a good start because all you’ll need to do is get dressed, drink your Proteini or Organic Green Juice and check items off your To Do List. You’ll have fewer decisions to make while your brain is waking up.

Wake up fifteen minutes earlier than your household so you can do something you love. Make the activity sacred and something you look forward to doing daily. It gives you a reason to spring out of bed in the morning. It also sets the tone for the day because no matter what happens, you’ll have had that time to yourself to read, meditate, do yoga, journal or watch the sunrise.

Listen to uplifting music or podcasts while driving or commuting to work or school. Use this time for yourself. It helps relax and inspire you. There are plenty of premade playlists created for the morning commute. Podcasts are free, abundant, and available on any subject you choose. Download a few that interest you and make listening to them part of your morning routine.

Be a beacon of light and positivity. Get in the habit of reciting affirmations before walking out the door for the day. The short, empowering statements will have you feeling good about yourself and your circumstances before you know it. Print out some of your favorite affirmations on card stock or write them out on index cards so you can carry them with you wherever you go. If you need a boost of positivity, recite an affirmation and go about your day with greater ease.

Do something nice for other people. If you make it a habit to do nice things for other people, you’ll arise from bed with a sense of purpose. You’ll feel empowered because you’re doing your part to create the type of world you want to live in. Being of service to others is one of the most fulfilling roles you’ll play in your lifetime. Hold the door open for people, pay for their coffee, tell them how glad you are to meet them, smile, and go the extra mile to make them feel good. You’ll feel a shift in how you approach mornings when you do nice things regularly.

How To Prepare For A Juice Cleanse

SPJ-53_large_41b2d263-a97b-4448-8704-e12bb9c28f81

So you’ve probably read up on some of the health benefits of juice cleansing and here you are- ready to try it out. But before you jump in, make sure you take the time to prepare for a juice cleanse; you’ll be thanking your future self.

Let’s be real- cleansing can be hard. But the following tips are likely to give you the best results you’re looking for, and give you a more positive cleanse experience overall. Whether it’s a 1-Day3-Day or 7-Day cleanse, the purpose is simply to enhance your body’s natural detoxification process, and give your body a fresh start. This means cutting out consumption of processed foods and refined sugars in order to get you on the fast track to healthy living.

  • Effective Planning

Make sure you schedule your juice cleanse for a time when you can really commit to the preparation and cleanse itself, AKA schedule it around commitments (dinners and/or parties) so you know you won’t be tempted to break it.

  • Cut The Caffeine

Our juice cleanses encourage you to go a few days without coffee and soda (trust us- you’ll be energized naturally). Trying to cut down on the amount you consume in the days leading up to your cleanse is likely to help you battle those cravings. Pro-tip: try caffeinated green tea as your temporary coffee placement.

  • Mind and Body Wellness

Sleep is crucial to optimize your wellness prior to cleansing. Your body is going to be hard at work so make sure you get a full night’s rest at least the night before the cleanse. Feel free to also try out some mindful meditation to rest your mind as well.

  • Drink More Water

Hydration is one of the most important things you can do to take care of your body. Water will encourage your body’s detoxifying process as well as help keep cravings under control- it keeps the body functioning properly.

  • No Alcohol

We think this one’s pretty self-explanatory… Don’t ruin your cleanse experience by drinking alcohol before or during your cleanse.

  • Eat More Fruits and Veggies

Upping your intake of raw fruits and veggies will make your adjustment process easier. This way, your body will be eased into the digestion process of a high fiber diet. Pro tip: don’t forget to choose organic.

  • Lower Dairy Intake

Try to go plant-based for the few days prior to your cleanse. Once again, this allows for an easier adjustment for your body. Animal products tend to be a bit trickier for your digestive system, so cutting these products out will allow for optimized detoxification during the cleanse.

  • Listen To Your Body

It’s important to remember to tone down your workouts and really be in tune with your energy levels. So if you’re feeling sluggish, simmer down on the workouts- You can make up for it once you’re back to solid foods.

This may be a lot to consider- but know that it’s absolutely worth it! As we said before, there are so many health benefits of cleansing, and you deserve the chance to feel that all natural health high. So good luck with your cleanse, and be careful easing back into solid foods! We can’t wait to hear your results. Three Steps to Living the Sweet Life Without Added Sugar

shutterstock_1011447838

Sugar is one of the most difficult things to give up in our quest for wellness. Naturally addicting, sugar is one of the most prominent ingredients in processed food today. However, sugar is also one of the most damaging foods for our body. It is one of the biggest causes of inflammation in the body, along with serious complications for our skin, heart, liver, cholesterol, blood sugar and energy levels. Yet the average American consumes around 19.5 teaspoons or 82 grams of sugar daily. If that wasn’t alarming enough, that amounts to 66 pounds of added sugar per person yearly.

shutterstock_190276481

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), women should have no more than six teaspoons or 25 grams of sugar per day and men no more than nine teaspoons or 38 grams. Considering how excess sugar readily converts to fat in our bodies, a diet filled with sugary foods naturally promotes weight gain. This guide will walk you through how you can make smart food choices to reduce sugar consumption, and how you can keep your life sweet, even without so many sweets.

1. Read labels to see how many grams of sugar are in foods and beverages.

shutterstock_349303394

Added sweeteners such as granulated sugar, high fructose corn syrup, honey, stevia, molasses, and maple syrup are what a person needs to watch for. Natural sugars such as those that are found in fruit, vegetables, and many dairy products are of less concern. The New York Times reports that most people don’t overdo it when they eat foods with have difficulty bingeing on naturally occurring sugars.

2. Formulate a game plan that helps you reduce sugar consumption.

B0767YFB98.pic5_d72664aa-5970-48fc-90dc-a5870f03c46b

The sugarless challenge- to get you off processed sugar completely, try to eliminate added sugar products from your shopping list for one month. To jump start your sugar detox, consider a Smart 7 day juice cleanse to completely rebalance your taste buds. With only 1 g of naturally occurring sugar per juice, Smart juicers report their sugar cravings easily disappearing once they are on a set schedule and health regimen. Look for juices that are high in vegetables and fiber, while being low in fruit content. When craving something sweet, reach for organic produce and products in their natural state whenever possible. For example, opt for an orange rather than a glass of sugar-laden orange juice.

Simple choices like these provide favorable results. You’ll notice a difference in how you feel because when blood sugars in the body raise quickly, they also dip low shortly after they’ve been processed. It’s why the feeling is called a “sugar high,” because it makes you feel good at first and not so great afterward.

3. Make healthier choices about which sources of sugar you consume.

shutterstock_377376556

You don’t need to give up sweets entirely to benefit from this lifestyle change. You do, however, want to avoid eating added sugar by making healthier selections. You can live a very sweet life without consuming high fructose corn syrup, granulated sugar, and molasses. Opt for naturally sweet foods such as pineapple and banana to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Quitting sugar cold turkey isn’t a realistic possibility for most people. Gradually reduce the amount of sugar you consume until you rarely eat anything with added sugar. You’ll notice a distinct difference in how you feel because your body won’t try to overcompensate by producing extra insulin which leads to feelings of sluggishness and depression in many adults.

Does that Juice Cleanse Actually Work?

shutterstock_1

With all the buzz around juice cleanses nowadays, it’s good to take a step back to consider how our bodies actually cleanse.

shutterstock_2

People always talk about how juicing gives you energy, makes your skin glow and helps you fit into that Instagram-ready swimsuit. So does drinking copious amounts of pressed carrots and beets detox us? How about throwing back that popular $10 green juice at our local judiciary? That’s got to cleanse us, especially at that hefty price tag!

shutterStock-3

When you look at the opinions of the medical industry, you will find plenty of nay-sayers about your expensive juice habit. The American Heart Association recommends a daily sugar maximum of 25 grams for women and 36 grams for men. In stark contrast, the sugar content in some popular juice cleanses can range from 75 grams to a staggering 200 grams of sugar. Experts also claim that the weight you lose on a juice cleanse is mostly water, or worse yet, muscle loss. With all the negative press about juice cleanses, we should take a step back and consider how our bodies actually cleanse.

shutterstock_4

Our bodies are exposed to hundreds of toxins every day through our environment, the products we use and the food we eat. We also produce toxins ourselves, as many of them are waste products from normal metabolic activities. These are called endogenous toxins. One overlooked source of endogenous toxins is an unhealthy gut. Over time, a diet that’s rich in highly refined foods, poor eating habits, and emotional stress can lead to an unhealthy balance of microorganisms in your gastrointestinal tract, a state that’s called intestinal dysbiosis. This can further be accompanied by the steady production of more toxins produced by undesirable yeasts, fungi, bacteria, and in some cases, even parasites.

We are going to let you in on a fabulous secret- our bodies already know what to do. However, it is up to us to provide our bodies with the necessary ingredients to support the process. There are three steps to how our bodies cleanse and detoxify.

shutterstock_5

1. Stage 1 Activate
Medical journals call the first step phase 1 detoxification, or as we like to call it, the activation stage. The first stage is where your body is pulling toxins out and converting them to a reactive intermediate so that they can be removed from your body. Believe it or not, most people don’t know that we need protein in order to properly cleanse. Many people have tried some cleanses where they do nothing but drink lemon water and cayenne pepper. Lemon cayenne water may spice up your life, but it doesn’t support the 3 phases of cleanse. Our bodies require amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein, in order to convert these reactive intermediates into water-soluble molecules. These amino acids are used in Phase 1 to help convert and prepare the toxins in our bodies to be flushed out.

Therefore, it’s important to support our bodies during the activation phase. Ensure that your cleanse proteins are from a wide variety of plants. Different plant proteins provide a rich variety of all the amino acids that your body requires for a cleanse. We probably don’t have to say this, but make sure they are always organic so that you don’t introduce even more toxins to your body. Remember that the function of the protein in our body is to help nourish, repair and improve our immune function, so it makes sense that we should supply our body with the correct balance of nutrients in order to support an optimal cleanse.

ShutterStock-6

2. Stage 2 Neutralize
Immediately after the activation phase, your body is going to need a heightened amount of antioxidants and phytonutrients, as these reactive intermediaries can do some damage during the conversion process. Scientists call this phase 2 detoxification. During the second stage, our bodies begin neutralizing these toxic reactive intermediates and converting them to water-soluble substances. The best thing we can do for our bodies is to get plenty of fluids, antioxidants, and phytonutrients during this stage.

Nutrition science has proven that eating a wide variety of plant foods benefits the body because of the large assortment of phytonutrients and antioxidants. Only by consuming a big variety of these nutrient-rich natural foods can you access the protective compounds that can help your body function and cleanse at its best. When you consume plants, these phytonutrients help your body reduce inflammation, prevent cellular damage and reverse chronic health conditions. The daily recommended intake of vegetables for optimal health is at least 3-4 servings per MEAL.

ShutterStock-7

The average person would not be able to easily eat their way through several pounds of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. This is the reason why green juices have become so wildly popular within the last few years. You are able to access the wide variety of these wonderful phytonutrients, and a convenient juice format is the best way to rapidly absorb these nutrients into your system. The only thing to consider about green juices is the sugar content, as the natural protein and plant-fibers have been removed in the juicing process. We recommend looking for one that utilizes a mixture of the chlorophyll-rich juices and whole plants rich in natural fibers. Juices like these are rich in fluids, antioxidants, and phytonutrients which help neutralize these intermediary toxins and prepare them for the next stage.

shutterstock_8

3. Stage 3 Eliminate

Finally, our bodies must eliminate these toxins and get them out of our body.  Our bodies have been working hard through the first two stages of cleanse by converting the toxins then neutralizing them. However, toxins can u, unfortunately,e a bit sticky and tend to cling to our colon and intestines. That’s why it’s important to support the third and often-forgotten stage of cleanse, the elimination stage. Failure to adequately prepare our bodies for this step can result in our bodies absorbing our toxins back into our system.

If we don’t support our bodies with the tools needed for this third stage of cleanse, we can end up experiencing stomach pains, cramps, chronic fatigue, constipation, low energy, headaches, brain fog and skin problems. This is why we need plant fibers. Plant fibers can grab a hold of these sticky, stubborn toxins residing in our intestines and colon and pull them out through elimination. They can also help us feel full, reduce blood sugar spikes from our juices and keep our digestive system running smoothly. Best of all, plant-based fibers act like a scrub brush for your digestive tract, the final stage to say good-bye to these toxins forever!

Support the Cleanse Process

These three stages of cleanse are how our bodies actually work to protect us from all the harmful effects of the daily toxins we are exposed to. Our bodies go through this process every single day. So when you pick up your next juice cleanse, take a peek at the labels and ask yourself if the ingredients support all the stages of cleanse. Does it provide a rich array of amino acids from plant-based proteins? Does it provide a wide variety of different types of vegetables to supply the phytonutrient profile? And finally, does it provide adequate amounts of plant-based fibers to help eliminate the toxins that your body has worked so hard to neutralize?

Make sure to check out Smart Pressed Juice, which provides the first juice cleanse that supports all three stages of cleanse. It’s perfectly balanced to provide all the proteinphytonutrients and fiber that your body needs to cleanse.

Manage Stress

Try some calming yoga poses to bring back your zen. Enjoy a massage at your favorite spa. Breathe in deeply and steadily. Once in a while, unplug and give yourself some time away from the constant buzz of social media and relentlessly negative news. Sip on soothing hot herbal tea instead of caffeinated beverages that have you hurtling towards a caffeine crash. In fact, you can even give your digestive system a breather and your spirits a lift by going on a revitalizing juice cleanse. And above all, capture as much shut-eye as you can so your body can properly undergo repair and detoxification during the sleep process.

Hold Yourself Accountable and Reward Yourself

There are plenty of apps and devices out there that will help you assess your health and fitness and help keep you on track. Better yet, find yourself a living breathing accountability buddy who shares your health goals. An ideal buddy won’t hesitate to put you on blast if you veer off track on your health journey and will cheer alongside you as you crush your health and fitness goals.

Short-term goals will lead to long-term goals. You can set short-term goals to measure your progress and celebrate meeting those markers. Giving yourself little non-food rewards along the way will make your efforts seem all that much sweeter and might be just the gentle nudge you need to move along.

Some are designed to help the body relax while others use the mind to move past whatever is bothering you, so you can focus on the good things you have in your life. Smartjuice2

  • Nourish Yourself First. Before you start on all your activities for the day, ask yourself- have I given myself enough fuel to do this? Taking care of ourselves can take as little as 30 seconds. Drop a couple scoops of plant-based Proteini into some delicious almond milk and be on your way! Else if you are ever in danger of over-fueling, try our Pineapple Chia Cleanse, which was specifically created to provide maximum refreshment while keep your cravings under control!
  • Give yourself a massage. When short on space, a massage can be as simple as rubbing your ears. It’s an overlooked part of the body that responds remarkably well. For a quick boost of life, try tugging on each ear gently. If you want a natural way to feel energized without consuming caffeine, try this hack and see how well it works for you.
  • Don’t underestimate the power of routine. Keeping the same schedule and going to the same place each day sends signals to the brain that puts it at ease. Routines help reinforce similar thought patterns which makes it possible for you to relax. You have a general idea of what you’ll be doing and why you’ll be doing it.
  • Take a ten-minute break to stretch and clear your mind. It’s easier to get things done when you give yourself regular breaks. It allows you to walk off stress, get a drink of water, and return to a project or task with greater clarity. It’s very easy to get up in the trap of trying to do more in less time. You’ll burn out quickly if you don’t take some time out of the day for self-care. Listen to your body and when it starts to feel stiff or tense, get up and move even if it is only for a minute or two.

These simple hacks can make a big impact on how your day turns out. Easy to do, they bring tremendous amounts of joy and security. Four Time Saving Tips That Help You Slay Your Morning Routine

shutterstock1

If you’re anything like us, mornings can be chaotic. We wake up and our inbox is flooded, we can’t decide what to wear, can’t find our keys and we can totally forget about that morning jog now. Mornings tend to be difficult to maneuver for most of us. Sometimes we feel like we just can’t get everything done before we walk out that door. This morning chaos sets a frenetic rhythm and can affect how we feel the rest of the day.

What the Stress Response Does to Your Body

shutterstock2

When the sympathetic nervous system is on high alert, it is known as the stress response. It causes your body to react accordingly by causing your muscles to tense, your heart to beat faster, and your body to be filled with adrenaline. This response occurs whenever a person feels fearful or excited.

Reduce Feelings of Fearfulness by Being Prepared for the Day

shutterstock3

If you tend to have issues getting around in the morning, there are things you can do to make things easier and less stressful for yourself. In fact, you may find that changing your routine slightly has notable positive effects on your life. You may ease into your mornings rather than rush into them at top speeds.

Here are four time-saving tips that help you slay your morning routine:

1. Get ready the night before. As you’re getting ready for bed, select the clothes you want to wear the next day. Lay them out so you’re able to put them on easily. Gather all the things you need to use to get ready such as toiletries, cosmetics, hair products, and shaving supplies in the bathroom before calling it a night. That way, everything is where you need it to be without searching for it.

shutterstock4

2. Have your Smart Pressed Juice ready to take with you. Portable and easy to prepare by adding water, our Vegan Vanilla ProteiniOrganic Pressed Greens and Pineapple Chia Cleanse is exactly what is needed to reboot your body and give you the energy needed to power through your day. The Complete Reboot- 7 Day Juice Cleanse gives you the phytonutrients, protein, and fiber needed to feel your very best. Stick a few packets in your bag with a refillable water bottle so you’re able to have healthy juices wherever you go.

shutterstock5

3. Find ways to do two tasks at once. Brush your teeth in the shower. Invest in shampoo that doubles as a body wash. Use a curling iron with a hair dryer built into it. Work on getting some extra steps in while waiting for the rest of your family to get ready to walk out the door. If you can’t walk from one room to the next with ease, walk in place.

shutterstock6

4. Refrain from reading emails first thing in the morning. Instead, listen to them while you commute. Choose an app that reads email such as Speaking Email which can be used on iPhones and Android phones. You’ll save yourself time by doing this in place of listening to the radio while you drive.

shutterstock7

Keeping the stress response low while preparing to greet the day is imperative. Adrenaline can cause you to react in ways that you wouldn’t ordinarily because you feel fearful that something will go wrong. Take a few minutes the night before to prepare for the morning and do what you can to simplify tasks such as preparing meals. Keep yourself fueled by having your Smart Pressed Juice first thing in the morning helps keep you calm and properly nourished at all times helps when you’re rushed for time. And most importantly, take a deep breath, take a few moments for yourself and have a great day out there!
